If you have an old kitchen or an older wardrobe, you are certainly familiar with a door or drawer that is sagging little and won't close tightly anymore. Fortunately, we have several different solutions for magnets for cupboard and cabinet doors: from magnetic lock sets to strong glue magnets. You just have to find out how strong of a solution you want and whether it should be as invisible as possible.
The "invisible" magnet for the cabinet door
With this little magnet trick, you can now close doors and drawers completely tightly in the kitchen, and the doors in the wardrobe no longer need to be ajar either. You can choose magnets down to 1 mm. in height, so that they can hardly be seen.
You will need magnets with glue that are paired with north/south (we sell all of our magnets with glue in sets, so putting them together correctly is not difficult). And if you use our magnets for cupboards as in the guide below, the magnets will sit perfectly opposite each other.
Here is an example of a kitchen cabinet that is gaping:

How to do it:
1) Clean the edges and the door where the magnets are to be attached. Let it dry completely. See our guide for cleaning here (you can't just use soap and water).
2) Prepare the magnets in a set (so that the sides with glue and foil point outwards in opposite directions).
3) Remove the foil from one magnet. Attach it to the door and press firmly. Let it sit for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.

4) Fold a piece of paper a few times or use two pieces of cardboard or cardstock and hold it over the magnet that is already attached. Then place the second magnet on top with the foil facing out. In this way, they are automatically centered with magnetism against each other, which is important to get the best result.

5) Press the cabinet door shut and keep the pressure for 1 minute. Then leave it for a minimum of 24 hours, so that the glue is allowed to work properly. Then you can use the cabinet or drawer again as normal - except that the cupboard now closes tightly.
The magnets are both for cupboards, drawers and other places where you need magnetism to close it tightly. The magnet on the door is almost invisible and at the same time easy to clean when you wipe down your cupboards.
Would you like it easy & strong?
We also sell magnets in sets that you can screw on, and everything you need is included. Here you don't need to buy a 10-pack but can buy as few as 1 set. Our magnets for cabinet doors look like the more traditional magnetic locks that you know from the hardware store, but that is also where comparisons end. Our magnetic locks are much stronger than the ferrite solutions that you can buy off the shelf anywhere. They are made of thick metal and strong neodymium magnets. So if you already have a plastic magnetic lock that doesn't work, you will experience a huge difference if you replace it with our metal one.
Want it even more extreme - or perhaps need an outdoor solution?
We have magnets for everything - also for large gates both indoors and outdoors. But when it gets bigger than just a kitchen cabinet or a wardrobe door, we have to do some math to find the right magnet for you. For outdoor use we would recommend rubber magnets and for indoors we would recommend pot magnets.
Having doubts about your solution?
It can be difficult to make a decision if you do not know much about magnets, so a good rule of thumb is that if it is a heavy door or a heavy drawer, where the magnet must not only hold something in place but also carry some weight or have other resistance, then you should choose a countersunk screw magnet for your project. But if it is just a small gap that could be nice to close tightly, you can usually use magnets with glue.
I you are still in doubt, you are very welcome to contact us - we would be happy to advise you on choosing the magnets we think you should use.
