Suggestions for using pictograms in everyday life

Forslag til brug af piktogrammer i hverdagen

Fortunately, there are many ways to make everyday life easier for children and young people who are visual. We have familiarized ourselves with different ways of using pictograms, and here are some of our suggestions for how you can use pictograms in your everyday life at home (or in the institution):

Make pictograms yourself

It is possible to make pictograms yourself, and this can be an advantage if your child has a very specific perception. So a cake is not just a cake, and breakfast is not just breakfast. And here it is an advantage to print out photos of the specific things that the child can expect for that day. The same with people: if there are different people picking up your child, a photo of them can be really useful in understanding how the day will go.

We also have a range of pictograms that you can print out. And they fit perfectly into magnetic pockets size 6x6 cm., which are made especially to be able to sit on magnetic boards and to be taken in your pocket (no sharp edges).

But you can also draw yourself on magnetic sheets with a permanent marker, or you can print out on paper and stick it on magnetic sheet with self-adhesive. You can cut magnetic sheets with a pair of good kitchen scissors, and then you can cut into squares that match what you are drawing.

Pre-made pictograms

We have also made it even easier: you can buy our pictogram series printed out directly onto magnetic sheets, so you just have to cut them out. They are made of strong magnetic foil, which is very magnetic. However, this solution cannot be used on glass boards.
