Magnetic lock for kitchen cabinets
f you have an old kitchen or an old wardrobe, you will surely know about a door or a drawer that hangs a little and won't close tightly anymore.
Use magnets for cupboards
With this little magnet trick, you can now close doors and drawers completely tightly in the kitchen, and the doors in the wardrobe no longer need to be closed either.
You will need magnets with glue that are paired with north/south (we sell all our magnets with glue in sets, so putting them together correctly is not a science). And if you use our magnets for cupboards as in the guide below, the magnets will sit perfectly opposite each other.
Magnets for doors
Here is an example of a wire shelf door - or a kitchen cabinet - standing and "yawning":
1) Clean the edge and the door where the magnets must be stuck. Let it dry completely. See our guide for cleaning here (you can't just use soap and water).
2) Prepare the magnets in a set (so that the sides with glue and foil point out in different directions).
3) Take the foil of one magnet. Attach it to the door and press firmly. Just let it sit for a few minutes before moving on to the next step...
4) Take a piece of paper and bend it a a few times (or two small pieces of cardboard) and hold over the magnet, it is already glued. Then put the second magnet on top with the foil facing out (this way they are automatically centered by the magnetism against each other, which is important to get the best result).
5) Press the door together with the cabinet and hold the pressure for 1 minute. Then leave it in my. 24 hours, so that the glue is allowed to work. And then you can use the door or drawer again as normal - except that the cupboard now closes tightly.
The magnets are therefore both for cupboards, drawers and other places where you need magnetism to close very close.
