Never use magnets near insulin pumps

Permanent magnets can be very dangerous when using equipment such as an insulin pump. The pumps are sensitive and are not made to withstand strong magnetic fields. So it cannot be emphasized enough that magnets should not be used near people with an insulin pump. A distance of min. 20 cm. is necessary, but to be safe it is best not to come near the sensitive equipment at all.

Insulin pumps can be switched off by magnetic contact

The electronics in an insulin pump are sensitive against strong magnets, and in the worst case a pump can be put out of operation. It is, among other things, therefore, that you have to take off both the pump, sensor and transmitter when you go through security at the airport, for an X-ray or through an MRI scanner. Because the magnetic field can easily put the equipment out of order. Obviously, a larger magnet would need to be in close contact with the insulin pump, sensor, or transmitter to short out the electronics, but since the medical equipment is often vital to the person wearing it, there is no reason to be overconfident.

Many of the smallest neodymium magnets are used in everyday things that are not directly dangerous to people with insulin pumps, but are magnets a la these tiny neodymium magnets:
