Most people have held a classic red/green magnet in their hand for physics lessons. Here you can get the classic AlNiCo teaching magnet in a slightly different shape: a long bar magnet.

The colour for North is red, while the colour for South is green.

We call this type of magnet educational magnets because AlNiCo is very suitable for educational use when teaching children and adults about magnetism. Use a magnetic rod made of AlNiCo to test magnetic fields with or put 2 next to each other with the same colors in the same direction to test repulsion.

The advantage of AlNico magnets is, among other things, that they withstand impacts better than neodymium and raw ferrite magnets. This means that the magnet will not break easily when you do experiments with attracting magnets. When making magnets for school use, it is also important to use the right strength and size: AlNiCo magnets are approx. 8 times weaker than neodymium magnets, but they are slightly stronger than ferrite. By coating them with color, they have become even more resistant. BUT never throw magnets and don't try to break it - very few magnets can withstand this kind of rough use.
