Open measurement is 12 cm., but that doesn't make much sense, since you want it  closed when hanging.

Can stick to all flat surfaces as they are made with 3M self-adhesive tape on one half. Remember to clean the surface before setting up, and press the magnet firmly so that there is no room for air bubbles on the self-adhesive strip.

You decide for yourself whether you want the magnetic clips hanging vertically or horizontally. The magnetism works equally well regardless of direction, but larger pieves of paper will be more secured if the magnetic clips are fixed horizontally at the top. However, postcards, photo paper and cardboard will do fine with the magnetic clips both horizontally and vertically.
