Magnets can do an incredible number of exciting and wild things - you can already read a lot about that here on Magnetpartner. This guide is in the more practical (and festive) corner and is about how you can use magnets to decorate a tent in the garden, regardless of whether it is your own tent or one you have rented - it leaves no trace, and this is done by using magnets. The classic party tent
The Danish summer is capricious. You never know if June will bring stormy weather or heat waves, or if July will be full of cloudbursts or days at the beach. At the same time, spring and summer are the seasons when most Danes have big parties. To be on the safe side, tents are rented for student parties, weddings, big birthdays and many other festive occasions to ensure dry weather and shade for the guests. Many people encounter a challenge here: How do you best decorate a tent in the garden so that it looks both nice and festive and is easy to take down again?
Here's how
It's quick and easy to decorate garden tents with magnets, because most tents have magnetic poles that the magnets easily stick to. Cleaning up after a graduation party or golden wedding is also much easier when you don't have to go around removing tape and other adhesives. You just collect the magnets, and then the tent is ready to be packed up and delivered back in the same condition as when you received it.
You will need this to decorate a party tent:
- Decorations
- Ø13 hook magnets or rubber magnets
Tip: Check in advance that the poles are actually magnetic so that the hooks can hang on them. If you got your hands on a non-magnetic tent, you can still easily decorate with magnets. Then you just need to use a magnet of the same size (Ø13) or larger to attach to the other side of the tent fabric which the hook magnet can attach to. Here it is a good idea to choose a rubber magnet that can withstand wind and weather for the outside.
String lights and garlands
Create coziness for the party - hang string lights, garlands or pennants in the garden tent.
Start by finding out how long your string lights or garland is and where in the tent it will be placed. Measure how many hook magnets you need. The number depends on how "tight" you want it to hang and also the weight of the string lights; if the string lights are heavy, you should use more hook magnets and place them at shorter distances.
If you need to hang heavier things than small string lights or paper decorations, such as flags to create a nice entrance area, as we have done here, you need two slightly larger magnets: one to attach to the flag and one to attach to the outside of the tent fabric.
You can of course also hang decorations and string lights on the outside of the tent in the same way. Then you just need to make sure that the decoration and any electronic parts are suitable for outdoor use.
Menus
Make it easy for your guests to see and follow the culinary journey of the evening or day by hanging the menu in different places in the tent. For example, hang one at the entrance, one by the gift table and one behind each table. If there are not magnetic bars in all the places where you would like to hang the menu, you can use two rubber magnets on each side of the tent cloth to keep the menu securely in place.
Tip: You can also use this magnet trick to hang funny, cute or embarrassing pictures of the main character(s) as decorations. A magnetic photo wire can also be used here.
