Is my Weber grill magnetic?

Er min Weber grill magnetisk?

Yes! Your Weber grill is magnetic.

If you're in a hurry, the quick answer is the one above, but if you have time to be inspired by various fun hacks for your Weber grill - or your Charbroil grill (because it's also magnetic) - read on, because this is where it gets fun.

You don't have to buy all the original Weber accessories to be able to take part in these hacks. We're big fans of Weber here in the office, so we have most of the original accessories. We've modified it with stronger magnets and made non-magnetic things magnetic. Cheaper grill accessories can also be used.

Yes, your grill is magnetic - use it to your advantage with rubber coated magnets

Here are our 3 best hacks with magnets for grills:

1. Holding the grill cover in place

Make sure your grill cover doesn't fly away: 3 rubber magnets are the solution, as they can keep your grill cover secured on the lid even when it's windy. Remember that the grill must be cold before you put your cover on. This is both for the sake of the material but also for the sake of the magnets, which can withstand up to 80 degrees.

2. Magnetic grill hooks

Another clever accessory for the grill is hanging your equipment, such as a spatula, tongs and the like. Since your Weber grill is magnetic, you can put magnetic hooks or rubber magnets on the side of the grill so that you have the equipment close at hand. However, you must place it on surfaces that do not get very hot during use, as the magnets cannot withstand heat above 80 degrees. It is not possible to attach equipment with magnets to your round coal grill while you are grilling, because the heat gets too high on the lid.

3. Magnetic accessories for the grill

A lot of grill equipment is magnetic from the get-go, but since we are huge magnetism nerds, it is rarely magnetic enough for us. An example is a grill thermometer with a magnet in it. It is super practical, but not particularly magnetic. You often have to place it very carefully so that it sticks properly to the grill and doesn't spin around.

Solution: a strong power magnet at the bottom. We've used this one ourselves: 13x1 mm. power magnet. However, it can only be used if you need to reinforce the existing magnet in your grill thermometer. If your thermometer is not magnetic from the start, you'll need to use a slightly stronger magnet. The strength depends on how heavy your thermometer is. However, you should be aware that the magnet must not be placed directly by the electronics in your digital thermometer. Therefore, it is important that you place a metal plate or something similar under the magnet if your digital thermometer does not come with a spacer, like the magnetic iGrill thermometers do.
